The situation in the subway has something almost surreal: from an everyday moment it slides into an intense experience in which you are suddenly the center of attention. It raises questions such as: What caused that reaction? and How do we process such social pressure in public spaces? You are in the spotlight without actually wanting to be. This could be a metaphor for the idea that people always feel watched, even when they are not.
In this project, built using Unreal Engine 5.5, immersive audio cues amplify feelings of discomfort and heightened self-awareness. The lighting and subtle animation shifts intensify the surreal transition from veryday interactions to exaggerated social scrutiny. Unreal’s realistic rendering capabilities help magnify ordinary gestures, creating a psychologically resonant experience that provokes reflection on social anxiety, spotlight effects, and self-perception in public spaces.

Autonomous
MIn this project, I was given full freedom to shape my own research and development process.
I explored how to translate subtle social discomfort into a VR experience, starting without
a fixed concept. I defined my own direction, designed and tested interactions, and iterated
based on user feedback.
Working autonomously meant taking initiative, setting internal goals, and making
creative and technical decisions without external direction. I learned to recognize when to
push forward and when to reflect, especially when dealing with uncertainty or complex
mechanics. While support was available, I was responsible for structuring the work and
driving it forward.
This experience strengthened my ability to work independently, stay focused, and critically
evaluate my own process—skills that I actively carry into both experimental and collaborative settings.
